This year marks a momentous occasion for our community – the 150th anniversary of the Gunning Railway Station, a beloved local landmark that has stood as a testament to regional progress and connection since its opening in 1875.
Exhibition Details
The Gunning & District Historical Society, in partnership with Southern Tablelands Arts and with the support of NSW Transport Asset Management, the Australian Railway Historical Society (ARHS) and Upper Lachlan Shire Council, warmly invites you to a special exhibition at the Gunning Railway Station. This event will celebrate the rich history and continued significance of the railway in our district.
Event Highlights
· Historical displays featuring photographs, artefacts, documents from its beginnings in1875 to the present showing how it began and its current roles
· Highlighting some of the workers and their roles at the station
· Timeline of the town’s history
· Booklet created by GDHS for the event
· Family-friendly activities, market stalls, food, refreshments available

About the Gunning Railway Station
Since its opening in 1875, Gunning Railway Station has played a pivotal role in linking our rural community with the rest of New South Wales, supporting local industry, travel, and growth. The station has witnessed countless stories, from the steam era to the present day, and remains a cherished part of our town’s heritage.

We encourage everyone, especially past and present residents and railway enthusiasts, to join in the celebration. It is also the 2nd Birthday for connect@gunning, as well as the weekend of the Upper Lachlan Art, Culture and Heritage Trail. We will have Pye Cottage ($5 entry) & the Historic Gaol cells (coin donation) open on the Saturday 1st Nov, 11am till 2pm as well.
